Hello I’m Michele.
I always knew I wanted to be a hairdresser, but what I didn't know was how truly passionate I would feel towards it. I feel privileged to spend my working days with so many incredible people. It's amazing how many prominent moments involve hair; from sharing the special mornings of clients on their wedding days, to giving my tired new mums the much needed 'pick-me-up' mummy make-over, to even shaving my clients hair after chemotherapy treatment in their courageous battles with cancer. My salon chair has been privy to almost every kind of conversation you could imagine.
“I consider it a real honour to do what I do.”
After the birth of our two sons Teddie (Bear) and Albie (Boo) it only seemed fitting to step back from salon owner of Balayagehair the salon my husband and I started in 2011 after the Christchurch earthquakes. I was so proud of what we had achieved. Starting a salon at 23 had it's challenges but it really grew us as people and we weren't walking away but looking at an extended part of the picture. The amazing Tom & Sharon Ujihara purchased Balayagehair in November 2016 and I am loving renting a chair with them. Boo Bear & Balayage was created months later and I'm super excited to be adding in training. I myself love to learn and grow and I'm really looking forward to sharing what has grown me as a stylist. My focus as a stylist is to create beautiful natural colours and styles which give a more holistic approach for my clients. My goal is to make each client look and feel amazing with a realistic style to suit their lifestyle.
Thank you so much for your support.
